boat ride, anyone?

It was really a memorable boat ride.  We planned on this trip but didn't make it to the island of Balicasag (famous for its white sandy beach and also for snorkelling, scuba diving and whale watching). Our motorized outrigger stopped somewhere at the middle where the water was pitch black and our boatman Jojo couldn't make the motor start again! So we had to paddle back to the main island Panglao, laughing most of the time because it was really funny looking at my friends paddling with plates!  Luckily, we made it to the place where we started safely and that's when I took this photo.

this photo is one of the first batch I took with my new sony digicam...

somewhere in panglao island...

this cozy setting can be found in many places when you're on this island.  bohol still has the natural beauty and i'm quite proud to be living in such a place where you still see trees where they should be..

shadows

it was hot at 9:00 am and too bright to take photos...but it didn't stop me...i took a lot of shots anyway and as expected, many were overexposed. this photo is one of those that came out just fine..well, for me anyway...

a sketch of dolphins at play

i lived in panglao island for two years.   panglao has many beach resorts like bohol beach club, eskaya beach resort and spa, bohol plaza, and many others also famous for its powdery white sand and clear blue ocean.

what I really enjoyed doing during that two years stay was to have a boat ride as far as the diving dropoff where you can see the white sand and the pitch dark deep meet.  it's where you see schools of fish, small sharks which the local folks call ihoy and my favorite, dolphins at play!!

loboc river bank

there's a place tourists should never miss when visiting bohol:  loboc river.  there are lots of other places too but there's just not too many river cruises available on this island or in the philippines for that matter.

turning
from watching the moon
my comfortable old shadow
led me home.
-from an old Japanese collection of poems
-the painting by sally

I've always been fascinated by the moon, not so much with its facts and theories as a heavenly body but rather on how its reflected light illuminate roof tops and tree canopies, creating long shadows on the ground, transforming an otherwise dreary scenery into dreamland :-)

It all started when I was ten years old. I saw a painting featured in a magazine, of an evening sky- the moon as the focal point was full, pale yellow, radiant and to my adoring eyes, beautiful. Below the painting was the caption: The Sentinel.

I look at this tree every morning.  No, i'm not a tree-hugger nor a tree-feller but I'm looking at it mainly because it is standing right in front of my bedroom window, just barely 10 meters away.   Anyway, this sketch was done three months ago.  It's  still standing there but now with wild vines of cadena de amor  covering the trunk and most of the lower branches with green heart-shaped leaves and sprigs of tiny pink flowers.  Looking at different shades of green can be relaxing to the eyes but a bit boring so needless to say, it's more exciting now,
